Your credit score is one of the most important numbers in your life, effectively determining your financial future. A low score can be detrimental to any driver as it indicates a high-risk borrower to lenders and could disqualify you from loans. Luckily there are ways to improve your score. We here at El Cajon Mitsubishi know several ways to help improve your credit score.

  1. Eliminate Debt – One of the best ways to raise your credit score is to eliminate debt in general. Spreading out your purchases on two different credit cards, for example, doesn’t help your score as the existing debt is the same. By eliminating small balances, you could raise your score. Try to use just one or two cards instead of multiple.
  2. Pay Bills On Time – Paying your bills on or before the due date can raise your score over time. If you’re someone who loses tracks of when bills are due, start a calendar. Your credit score will thank you in the long run.
  3. Watch Balances – If you have a large amount of available credit, don’t feel like you have to use it all. Try to pay down larger balances with multiple payments throughout the month and utilize a small portion, about 30% or less, of your available credit.
