Within the past decade, some industry experts thought that Mitsubishi Motors would go under. Now, in 2018, we are here to stay and growing stronger every year. In fact, the future of Mitsubishi is looking bright and electric.

Based on its experience with the i-MiEV electric car and the current Outlander PHEV, Mitsubishi has big plans to create a line of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to tap into the growing trend of using alternative energy sources for vehicles.

In an interview with Digital Trends, Don Swearingen, Mitsubishi CEO, stated that as the brand continues to develop it electric and hybrid technology, there is the potential to offer a performance-oriented electrified vehicle in the future.

Mitsubishi also works to support programs that hope to grow the electric infrastructure in the United States. This will help to further the adoption of electric technology across the country. Many people who want to drive a more environmentally-conscious vehicle would like to drive something electric. But, because of the vehicle’s limited range, they turn to a hybrid. That is why Mitsubishi will be working on both aspects of vehicle electrification.

You can experience Mitsubishi’s current plug-in hybrid technology in the Outlander PHEV. It offers an estimated electric driving range of about 22 miles. Get some of those miles under your belt with a test drive at El Cajon Mitsubishi!
