Mitsubishi is known for forward thinking and being on the cutting edge of technological offerings on their platforms. Infotainment systems have become core features on most vehicle platforms and the technology that drives them plays a major factor on their usefulness. Connectivity features like Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ are core features to many of these systems and serve their function well but are not quite a full operating system. Mitsubishi continues its long tradition of looking into the future by announcing a new partnership with Google that will bring the full Google Android Operating System to Mitsubishi infotainment systems.
The feature rich Android OS will be able to control features such as Google Maps to use for navigation. Android based entertainment applications will be usable to stream to your vehicle’s speaker system. Many other productivity and entertainment apps are also available for download directly to the system. All of these features will be controllable with Google Assistant allowing for voice recognition commands and hands-free use. Apple users have nothing to fear as full Apple device support will remain and device pairing will continue to be as simple as ever. Look for these new operating system changes in vehicles coming in 2021.
In the meantime, current Mitsubishi models are already quite advanced when it comes to connectivity. Check them out at El Cajon Mitsubishi.
