The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has released its 2019 ratings, which included the 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross as one of the safest compact SUVs of the year. It shared the honor with another Mitsubishi, the 7-passenger Outlander, which was also named an IIHS Top Safety Pick.
The SEL trim of the Eclipse Cross earned the honor with safety features like Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and LED headlights that not only provide superior illumination but also look quite stylish. With the available Touring Package, safety features expand to include Forward Collision Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beams. The Forward Collision Mitigation system and aforementioned headlights were what tipped the scales in the Eclipse Cross’s favor.
Several tests revealed the compact SUV’s safety prowess. The Mitsubishi received the highest-possible “Good” rating in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests, all thanks to its advanced, Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body construction. And in the front crash prevention test, the Eclipse Cross received a “Superior” rating, being able to avoid collisions at 12 and 25 mph.
Mitsubishi also provides one of the best warranties on the market, with a 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, 5-year/60,000-mile fully transferable New Vehicle Limited Warranty, and 5 years of unlimited Roadside Assistance.
If safety and peace of mind behind the wheel is important to you, the 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is undoubtedly a great compact SUV. Check it out and learn more about its safety features at El Cajon Mitsubishi!
