The 2020 Outlander PHEV was assessed through the NHTSA New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), which puts vehicles through a series of meticulously detailed tests and evaluations to determine its level of safety for the public.

The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plug-in Electric Vehicle) received five out of five stars for combined side crash ratings and four out of five stars in front crash and rollover tests.
